Processing times vary significantly based on your relationship to the petitioner and country of origin. Immediate relatives of U.S. citizens typically wait 8-15 months after filing, while other family members may wait several years due to numerical limitations and per-country caps.
You may apply for employment authorization 150 days after filing a complete asylum application, provided no delays were caused by you. The work authorization is valid for specific periods and must be renewed as your case progresses.
